Gill is a self-taught artist and started drawing and painting from an early age, initially by copying horses and other animals from books. In 1979 she decided to pursue an art career aged 18 and started her foundation course in Chelsea. This was followed by a degree course at Brighton where she graduated in 1982 with a fine art degree in sculpture. Gill stayed in Brighton working at a studio on the seafront making sculptures with an architect for trendy clubs and hotels. On moving to East Grinstead in the late 80's, she began painting for an art agent which took her career to another level. Gill now hones her paintings around landscapes and life forms that promise better times and places. Her paintings are large contemporary oil paintings of woodland scenes, trees, landscapes, animals, seascapes, underwater paintings, and fish. She applies incredible detail and composition to her art, building layer upon layer in order to create a textured and unique finish that ensures vibrancy and originality.
