Thorley Care Home – Wigan

Newly refurbished residential care home in Wigan required a selection of bespoke artwork in some of their key communal areas. In the main corridor, we curated a customised wall called “Decades Wall” which was nostalgic and evocative. Using local memorabilia and historical artwork, both 3D and framed, we created a journey through time that was engaging for the relatives and residents alike.

During our installation there were numerous residents who were very much engaged in the Decades wall artwork. It created many conversations amongst the residents and relatives with some recalling where they were during the “First moon walk” and “Breaking of the 4 minute mile”, demonstrating that art can be a tool for engagement and a means for evoking nostalgic memories.
